Woodbridge man struck in head, cut when verbal altercation accelerates ; police arrest suspect

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Wounding – On January 31 at 3:51AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3100 block of Vanderbilt Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 28-year-old man of Maryland, and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated physically.

During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the head with a baton and cut him on the upper body with a razor blade. The parties eventually separated and the police were contacted. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Following the investigation, the accused, Ulise Fael HERNANDEZ ORTIZ, was arrested without incident.
