Woodbridge Senior High School’s Homecoming weekend is Oct. 17-18.
The annual Homecoming Parade is Friday, Oct. 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. The parade is an annual highlight of the fall and a hallmark of the school’s Homecoming festivities.
This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is former principal and head of the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Alan Ross. Ross is being recognized for his long and storied contributions to the school, and bookending the 50th Anniversary celebrations in September.
The parade includes student and community groups. WSHS students will participate in their athletic teams, clubs, and groups. Teams from Woodbridge Middle School will also be participating, as well as local community groups and elected officials.
The community is invited to support the Homecoming week by cheering on the parade along its route.
The parade beings at 4 p.m. and ends promptly by 5 p.m. The parade begins at the intersection of Deepford Drive and William & Mary Drive; it continues along Deepford Drive and turns on Antietam Road. The procession continues on Antietam, crossing Old Bridge Road, and ending at the WSHS student parking lot. Prince William County Police will control the signal at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Antietam Road to ensure smooth traffic flow during the commute.
Other Homecoming celebrations include the Friday night football game against rival, Hylton High School at the WSHS stadium at 7 p.m.
The half-time show will include the Mighty Viking Marching Band and Vikette Dance team, as well as introducing the WSHS 2014 Homecoming Court and crowning the Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen. A student dance is on Saturday, Oct. 18 for students who have pre-purchased tickets.
