Woodbridge High School senior class president Fatima Dyfan was chosen from among three finalists to receive the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award for $10,000 for the 11th Congressional District.
The award recognizes high school students in Virginia distinguished for character, leadership, devotion to duty, and academic accomplishment.
Dyfan is class president at Woodbridge and has held numerous leadership roles in school, her community, and at the state level.
Dyfan serves as a member of the Virginia Student Council Association Advisory Committee. She has volunteered at a local nursing center for four years, tutors math students, and has presented at Division-level conferences.
She is an accomplished actress, having held several lead roles in productions of the Woodbridge High School Theater Department. She was recognized by the Northern Virginia Theater Association and most recently was nominated for a Cappies award for Best Supporting Actress.
