Woman struck by vehicle in Manassas; driver charged

Felony Hit and Run – On Friday, Dec. 11 at 10:52PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 8100 block of Halsey Ct. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a pedestrian being struck. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 24-year-old woman, who was being treated by rescue personnel for injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle.

The striking vehicle, driven by an acquaintance, identified as the accused fled the area prior to police arrival. The investigation revealed that the victim was walking towards a residence located in the above area, when the accused accelerated towards her. The vehicle struck the victim causing her to slide over the hood before landing on the ground. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While investigating, officers made contact with the accused who met with police and was subsequently detained without incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Olga Elizabeth HERRERA, was arrested.
