Wife charged in Thanksgiving Eve homicide in Woodbridge

Murder Investigation – On November 21 at 8:08PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3300 block of Labourn Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shooting.

The investigation revealed that the victim and the accused, who are husband and wife, were inside their home in the above area when they became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, a firearm was brandished and the victim was shot, according to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman.

When officers arrived at the home, they located the accused near the front entrance of the home where she was subsequently detained without further incident, Perok said. When officers checked the residence, they located the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The firearm was recovered, the police report stated.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Rene Rachelle DRAKE, was arrested.
