Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is the featured agency for the 2016 International Bridge Conference being held June 7-10 at The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, 201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD 20745.
Virginia Secretary of Transportation Aubrey L. Layne will provide keynote remarks to help kick off the conference, and VDOT leadership and engineers will host a special session highlighting Virginia’s bridges across the state.
The annual International Bridge Conference, now in its 33rd year, attracts more than 1,500 bridge owners and engineers, senior policy makers, government officials, bridge designers, construction executives, and suppliers from the United States and abroad. In 2015, participants came from 48 states and 17 countries.

Conference keynote session, Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. will include Virginia Secretary of Transportation Aubrey L. Layne: Project Prioritization and Public-Private Partnerships: The Virginia Experience
Featured Agency Session: Bridges in Virginia, Wednesday, June 8, at 12 p.m. VDOT maintains and inspects more than 19,400 bridges and large culverts in Virginia. This session will highlight VDOT’s work and philosophy to preserve, maintain, and restore these assets, as well as major projects and initiatives by bridge engineers from across the state. Introduction and opening remarks by Garrett Moore, P.E., Chief Engineer.
