Victim of March 15 house fire in Nokesville identified

The victim of a March 15, 2022 fire at a home in the 14000 block of FleetwoodDrive, Nokesville, has been identified as Elva Clarene Ritenour, 88, of Nokesville, according to Matt Smolsky, Deputy Chief – Fire Marshal. The cause of the death and fire are under investigation. Further details will be made available,  said Smolsky.

A passerby had reported flames visible from the home. On arrival, crews were alerted that a single occupant might still be in the home.  Crews were able to locate and remove the victim from the structure.  The adult victim did not survive the fire and was pronounced on the scene.  The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. No other injuries were reported.
