Victim identified in Sept. 24 shooting in Dumfries

Homicide Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED – Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified the man killed in the early morning shooting that occurred in the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) on September 24. The deceased was identified as Antonio Kaoul SMITH, 37, of Dumfries. More information regarding this case will be released when available. The investigation continues.

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On September 24 at 3:51AM, officers responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds in the roadway near the above area. The man was transported to an area hospital where he later died. At this time, detectives from the Homicide Unit are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up the shooting. No arrest has been made in this incident.
