Victim identified in fatal townhouse fire in Woodbridge March 16

Death Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED – Detectives from the Homicide Unit have positively identified the victim of the fatal house fire which occurred at a residence located in the 14600 block of Ponderosa Ct in Woodbridge on March 16.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office pending the investigation by the Fire Marshals’ Office into the cause and origin of the fire. 

Identified:
The victim has been identified as Aladin Mohamed YOUSEF, 56, of Woodbridge

Death Investigation [Previously Released] – On March 16 at 2:42AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14600 block of Ponderosa Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to assist the Department of Fire and Rescue with a townhouse fire.

Due to the unsafe structural conditions of the home, fire crews were unable to conduct an interior search of the residence for any occupants.

As the investigation progressed, it was determined that a resident of the home was unaccounted for.
On March 17, investigators were able to confirm that human remains were inside the residence.

The remains will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis and identification.

This incident is being jointly investigated by the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit and the Department of Fire and Rescue’s Fire Marshals’ Office.

The identity of the deceased will be released once positive identification is confirmed and next of kin notified. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
