Verbal altercations escalate; police make arrests

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Wounding | Burglary – On May 31 at 10:51PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 9800 block of Shallow Creek Lp in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 30 year of man of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation in the above area which escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the head causing a severe laceration. As the victim attempted to get away, the accused forced his way into the victim’s apartment and continued to assault him. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. As the accused was leaving, he damaged several windows of the victim’s vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The accused returned to the apartment a short time later and was detained by officers without incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
Arrested on May 31:
Jose Humberto RODRIGUEZ PORTILLO, 29, of 9207 Bluebird Terr in Gaithersburg, Maryland
Charged with malicious wounding, burglary, and destruction of property
Court Date: July 22, 2016| Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Attempted Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On June 1 at 9:44PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2900 block of Wetherburn Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 30 year of woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation with escalated.  During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the face. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police. When the officers attempted to arrest the accused, he attempted to spit on the officers. The accused was quickly detained without further incident.  No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Chris Jonathan MORALES, 31, of 2918 Wetherburn Ct in Woodbridge
Charged with assault & battery on a LEO and domestic assault & battery
