In July 1941, (then) LTC Omar N., Bradley established the first Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning.
In 2016 the OCS program celebrates its 75th year of training and commissioning the finest young men and women in America to be officers in the United States Army.
Hundreds of thousands of OCS graduates have been instrumental in meeting the U.S. Army’s leadership requirements during peace and conflict.
The U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association will celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of OCS on 20 July at Fort Myer, VA.
At 1:15pm the Association will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery. The wreath will be in recognition of the OCS 75th Birthday and in honor of OCS Alumni.
A regional reunion will follow on Fort Myer with a tour of Old Guard facilities and a briefing by the OCS Battalion Commander.
At 7:00pm all OCS alumni will be recognized at Twilight Tattoo, an hour-long, live-action military pageant featuring Soldiers from The 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”.
