Update – Additional Information

Shooting Investigation – On December 20th at 5:37AM, Prince William County VA Police officers responded to a residence located in the 15500 block of Winding Creek Dr in Dumfries to assist the Department of Fire and Rescue with an injury which was initially reported as being caused by a firework.

Upon further evaluation, rescue personnel determined that the injury was actually a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where the injury was determined to be non-life threatening.

The investigation revealed that victim, a 24 year old man of Dumfries, was involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the Center Plaza Shopping Center located in the 4300 block of Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) around 2:00AM. During that altercation, the victim was shot.

This incident was not reported to police until rescue personnel arrived at the home later in the morning.

Officers checked the shopping center and were able to locate a crime scene. Detectives are continuing the investigation to determine the identity of the suspect involved. No arrests have been made.

At this time, detectives believe this incident was not a random occurrence. The investigation continues.
