Two charged with strangulation in domestic-related cases; one charged with felony child abuse

**ARRESTS**

Strangulation | Domestic Related – On January 28 at 12:57AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15600 block of Avocet Lp in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 22-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat causing her to momentarily lose consciousness. The parties eventually separated and the police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jerrod Levhon COCHRAN, was arrested.

Strangulation | Domestic Related – On January 27 at 12:49PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 10600 block of Blendia Ln in Manassas (20110) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 19-year-old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat. A struggle ensued and the parties eventually separated. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jasmine Nicole CHEW, was arrested.

Felony Child Neglect – On January 27 at 9:01PM, officers responded to an apartment located in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 35 year old woman, reported to police that she was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, an acquaintance, which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim onto a bed and began punching her in the face. When the victim attempted to contact police, the accused took the victim’s cell phone. The accused then left the apartment with his 3-year-old daughter as the victim was able to run to another apartment and contacted police. Officers searched the area and located the accused sitting in a vehicle parked nearby. The 3-year-old girl was uninjured and located on the backseat of the vehicle without a child safety seat. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the accused was also intoxicated. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Hector GARCIA-VARELA, was arrested.
