Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On September 6 at 5:57PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 18300 block of Sharon Rd. in Triangle (22172) to investigate a firearms violation.
The investigation revealed that the accused was handling his handgun when a round discharged and traveled through his phone and hand before lodging in a wall within the home.
The accused contacted a family member and then notified emergency services. The accused was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No additional injuries or property damage were reported.
Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Desmond JONES, was arrested.

Brandishing of a Firearm – On September 6 at 6:21PM, officers responded to the 13400 block of Forest Glen Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a brandishing.
The victim, a 49-year-old man, reported to police that he was traveling in the above area when he and the driver of another vehicle, later identified as the accused, got into a verbal altercation. The encounter escalated when the accused brandished a firearm.
The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted the police. During the investigation, officers were able to identify the accused as Matthew Joseph SCHWARTZ who was located at his residence where he was taken into custody without incident.
