Starting April 1, a VDOT contractor will begin a traffic counting project in the Occoquan area, according to Earnie Porta, mayor of Occoquan.
The counting will involve 48-hour volume and classification counts in specific locations. The study will take place over several months.
Consequently, beginning April 1 and stretching into July area residents may see traffic road tubes stretched across lanes of travel and connected to roadside counting devices, according to Porta. “These are neither police speed detectors nor Town of Occoquan devices,” the mayor said.
