Three students to go through juvenile court diversion after weapons found on school property in PWC

• Possession of a Weapon on School Property – On March 4 at 11:26AM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Ronald Reagan Middle School located at 15801 Tanning House Pl. in Haymarket (20169), was notified by school personnel that two students were each in possession of a knife. The investigation revealed that on March 3, a 12-year-old male student sold a knife to a 13-year-old male student during class. On March 4, the parents of the 13-year-old student located the knife while the student was at home and contacted the school. School personnel then notified school security who brought the 12-year-old male student to the security office where he was found in possession of a second knife. The SRO determined that neither weapon was displayed or part of any active threat. Following the investigation, the SRO sought petitions against both juveniles. On March 7, the SRO was advised by Juvenile Court Services that the matter resulted in an informal action and will be handled through the juvenile diversion process.

• Possession of a Weapon on School Property – On February 17 at 8:50AM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Colgan High School located at 13833 Dumfries Rd in Manassas (20112), was notified by school security personnel that a female student was in possession of an electroshock weapon. The investigation revealed that school staff member observed the student in possession of the weapon and reported the observation to a teacher who in turn notified school security. During the investigation, the 14-year-old female student, identified as the accused, was brought to the security office where she was found in possession of the electroshock weapon. The SRO was present and the determined the weapon was never
displayed or part of any active threat. Following the investigation, officers sought petitions against the accused. On February 23, the SRO was advised by Juvenile Court Services that the matter resulted in an informal action and will be handled through the juvenile diversion process.

Arrests
• Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] –
On March 8 at 5:30PM, officers responded to the intersection of Dale Blvd. and Potomac Center Blvd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a two-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a vehicle, later identified as the accused, was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle. No injuries were reported from the crash. During the investigation, officers determined the accused was intoxicated and attempted to detain her. While being detained, the accused actively resisted. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody. As officers were escorting the accused to a police vehicle, she kicked an officer. The accused was re-secured and placed into the vehicle without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused,
identified as Yanina Lulay BERRY, was arrested.
