Prince William County Fire & rescue units and county police responded to a reported townhouse fire at 7937 Hugh Mullen Drive at 3:05 a.m. on Monday, April 9, in the Sudley area of the county. When fire and rescue units arrived, they discovered fire showing in the front of a two-story, end-unit townhouse with a basement. A neighbor had smelled smoke, proceeded to investigate, and discovered the fire. She promptly alerted the occupants and called 911.
Police officers helped evacuate occupants and assist one occupant from the second floor who had an existing injury prior to the arrival of fire and rescue units. One firefighter sustained a minor injury during firefighting operations. Red Cross assisted with the three displaced adults as a result of this fire that caused damage estimated at $25,000. The cause of this fire is currently classified as undetermined and remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
