Crash Involving Prince William County School Bus – On December 11th at 2:08PM, police responded to the area of Bethlehem Rd and Sudley Manor Drive in Manassas (20109) for a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2007 Thomas school bus was traveling northbound on Bethlehem Rd approaching Sudley Manor Drive.
The driver disregarded a stop at the intersection above and made a right turn onto Sudley Manor Drive in the path of a 1999 GMC truck. As a result of the crash, nine students from the bus, ages 14-18, were transported to an area hospital. The driver of the bus was also transported to an area hospital. Only minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the bus driver was charged, according to a Prince William County police report.
Charged with reckless driving on December 11th: Veronica Ofelia ESPINOSA, 37, of 8701 Virginia Pine Ct in Fredericksburg. Court date unavailable, released on a summons.
The school bus involved in the accident had picked up the students at Stonewall Jackson High School and was transporting them to their homes when the collision occurred, according to Irene Cromer, supervisor of community relations for Prince William County Schools.
Following the accident, another school bus was dispatched to pick up other students who were on the bus and transport them to their homes.
Cromer said staff from Stonewall Jackson High School were on hand at Prince William Hospital to talk with and support the injured students and their family members following the incident.
