Taxicab carjacked in Woodbridge; victim yells; witness contacts police

Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding – On August 19 at 2:50AM, Prince William County police officers responded to the 1300 block of East Longview Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a carjacking, aqccording to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 66-year-old man, responded to the area for a taxi fare when he was approached by two unknown men. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a firearm as they removed the victim from the taxicab. The suspects then struck the victim on the head with the firearm and demanded his property, Perok said.

When the victim yelled for help, a witness contacted police, according to the police report.

The suspects then took the vehicle and fled the area.

The victim sustained serious injuries and received treatment at an area hospital, Perok said.

Upon further investigation, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s Robbery Unit received information from Fairfax County Police which led to the suspects being identified. Both suspects were already in custody in Fairfax where they were served with the warrants related to this case, Perok said.
