Suspicious death in burning vehicle at Old Bridge & Occoquan Rds.

INCIDENTS
• Death Investigation –
On August 23 at 6:50PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the intersection of Old Bridge Rd. and Occoquan Rd. in Woodbridge (22193) for initial reports of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival one vehicle was located engulfed in flames. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed the deceased had placed gasoline in the passenger compartment of the vehicle just prior to the crash, causing the fire inside of the vehicle. The fire, as well as the cause and manner of death, is still under investigation. The identity of the deceased will be released pending identification and
next-of-kin notification. More information will be released when available.
Anyone who may have information that can aid in the investigation is asked to contact the police. The investigation continues.

• Brandishing of a Firearm | Road Rage Related – On Friday, August 23, 2024 at 7:21PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate a brandishing that was reported to have occurred in the area of Gordon Blvd. near Devils Reach Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) earlier that evening. The investigation revealed the victim, a 20-year-old man, was driving on Gordon Blvd. when he was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of a pickup truck.
During the incident, the suspect brandished a firearm towards the victim. The victim left the area and contacted police. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a white male, between 30-40 years old with brown hair and a full beard and mustache.

• Residential Burglary – On Friday, August 23, 2024 at 3:32PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 5900 block of Maxfield Ct. in Manassas (22193) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed an unknown man entered the home through an unsecured balcony door and was confronted by an occupant of the home. The suspect quickly left the residence without further incident. A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect
who was not located. No property was reported missing.

• Attempted Residential Burglary – On August 25 at 3:37AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 13000 block of Invergordon St. in Bristow (20136) to investigate an attempted burglary. The investigation revealed residents heard a rear basement door open and upon inspection observed two individuals walking away. It is unknown if entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing. The suspects were described as two men with thin builds, one of whom was wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants while the other was wearing a black sweatshirt and white sweatpants.

ARRESTS
• Malicious Wounding –
On August 26 at 12:41AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 10800 block of Promenade Ln. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 40-year-old woman, was in the above area when she was approached by a man she had seen previously, later identified as the accused. During the encounter, the accused picked the victim up off the ground and dropped her causing her face to strike
the ground. The parties separated and the victim walked out of the area before encountering police. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. While checking the area, officers located the accused, identified as Ryan Anthony KARLSTROMER, nearby where he was arrested without incident.

• Attempted Malicious Wounding (Domestic Related) – On August 23 at 4:03AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 7500 block of Clemson Ct. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed the victim, a 36-year-old woman, and a family member, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused brandished a knife towards the victim before a family member intervened. The parties separated and when the victim attempted to call the police, the accused took the phone and shoved the victim before the leaving the room.No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Hilarion Kongso BERINYUY,
was arrested.

• Armed Robbery – On Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 3:47PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 10740 Coverstone Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed a man, later identified as the accused, removed two cases of alcohol from the cooler and walked out the back door with the unpaid items. When an employee confronted\ the accused just outside of the store, the accused brandished a knife and ran out of thearea. No injuries were reported. While checking the area, officers located the accusednearby and after a brief foot pursuit, took him into custody without incident. No injurieswere reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Michael Anthony COACHMAN III, wasarrested.

*Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – Saturday, On August 24, 2024 at 8:44PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to Bennet Elementary School located at 8800 Old Dominion Dr. in Manassas (20112) to investigate a trespasser. Responding officers located a woman, later identified as the accused, in the parking lot and determined she was intoxicated. When officers attempted to detain the accused, she actively resisted and kicked an officer before being detained. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Bonnie Sue ELLITO, was arrested. While processing the accused at the detention center, she spat on an officer before being re-secured without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Abduction –On Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 8:01AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate an abduction of a correctional officer that was reported to have occurred at the Prince William Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center located at 9320 Lee Ave. in Manassas (20110) the evening prior. The investigation revealed, at approximately 11:00PM, a correctional officer entered an inmate’s cell to retrieve an item when the inmate, identified as the accused shut the door from the outside of the cell. The door was opened quickly by other correctional staff and the staff member left the cell without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Roberto Jose MARRERO, was charged.
