Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On August 7 at 7:31PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the area of Wellington Rd in front of Jiffy Lube Live, located in the 7800 block of Cellar Door Dr in Bristow (20136), for an intoxicated individual.
According to First Sgt. Jonathan Perok, public information officer for PWPD, when officers attempted to make contact with the individual, later identified as the accused, he attempted to walk away. Officers eventually detained the accused for public intoxication without incident. While securing the accused in a police vehicle, the accused spat in the face of one of the officers before proceeding to use his head to strike the partition and making threats to the officer. No officers were injured. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Charles Wesley SMOOT, was arrested.
