Police investigate shooting in Woodbridge

Shooting Investigation – On March 26 at 10:34PM, officers responded to the Summerland Heights Apartments located in the 1900 block of Gableridge Turn in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 30-year-old man, was involved in an altercation with several other individuals when he was shot. The group dispersed prior to police arriving in the area. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooter was not located. This incident does not appear to be random. The investigation continues.

Stabbing Investigation – On March 26 at 10:31PM, officers responded to an area hospital to investigate a stabbing which possibly occurred in the area of the Coverstone Apartments located in the 10900 block of Coverstone Dr in Manassas (20109) at an unknown time. At the hospital, officers made contact with a 35-year-old woman at the hospital who sustained a significant laceration to her arm. The woman refused to cooperate with police regarding how the injury occurred other than stating she attempted to break up a fight in a parking lot of the above area. While attempting to get additional information, a 35-year-old man, entered the same hospital for treatment of a laceration to his hand. The man also refused to cooperate with police. The parties were believed to know one another. No other information was provided about the incident. This incident does not appear to be random.

Arrests
Malicious Wounding – On March 26, 2020 at 10:48PM, Prince William County police officers responded to a wooded area located near the 10700 block of Coverstone Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 51-year-old man, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated physically. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle while attempting to take the victim’s backpack. The accused fled the area prior to police arriving on scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Officers located the accused nearby who was detained after a short foot chase. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Luis Fernando SALAZAR, was arrested.

Charged with 2 counts malicious wounding, 1 count of attempted robbery, and 1 count of public intoxication
