The famous Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will make a visit to the Prince William County Fair, Manassas, on Aug. 9 and 10.
The popular vehicle shaped like a hot dog is one of six touring the United States, competing against each other for the first time ever in a cross-country Summer Road Rally. Fans will have unprecedented access to the most popular and longest running mobile marketing tour in America.
Six teams of drivers, also known as Hotdoggers, and their newly personalized Wienermobile, will be competing for points based on fan visits.
To differentiate the six vehicles, each has been given a unique team name and persona: HellOnBuns, Speedy Wiener, Autobuhn, Born To Bun, Bunderstruck and the one stopping in Manassas, DriftDog.
Driftdog will be manned by “Cold Cut Cokie” and “Sam and Cheese” who encourage local residents to stop by and visit with them or have a photo taken with the Wienermobile. Prize tokens will be given out to the visitors.
“The rally is the latest example of how the Oscar Mayer brand is continuing to evolve,” said Ed Roland, senior experiential and scale marketing manager of Oscar Mayer. This new program allows fans to talk directly to the Hotdoggers on social media and where they are on location.
When the program wraps up on the last day of summer, the team with the most points will be declared the Wienermobile Run Champion, and fans who pledged support for the team online will receive a free specially designed t-shirt and one lucky fan will even win a visit from the reigning champion.
“Sam and Cheese” was quoted in a news release as saying, “I recently graduated from the University
of Maryland with a degree in marketing and with my appetite for adventure, I’m ready to hit the hot dog highways of America for the next year. “I relish the opportunity to drive one of America’s most iconic
vehicles. Be sure to stop by and see me so we can ketchup!”
Prince William County Fair runs Aug. 9-17 at the fairgrounds, a mile south of Manassas on Va. Route 234.
