Dick Black, Virginia senator-elect, spoke to voters about his background and his plans for office.

Gainesville Supervisor John Stirrup held his last town hall meeting at Haymarket’s Battlefield High School to introduce area voters to the elected officials who will represent them. Stirrup brought in Peter Candland, who is the supervisor elect for Gainesville on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, as well as Alyson Satterwhite, the new Gainesville school board representative. Dick Black (R), the new state senator, ran against Stirrup for the office—both men were cordial to each other; Black, and others lauded Stirrup’s service to the community.

Tim Hugo (R-40th) and Robert “Bob” Marshall (R-13th) attended as did Milt Johns, chair of the school board, attended and spoke to the 50-plus people in Battlefield High School’s auditorium.

The full story will be in an upcoming print issue of the Observer.
