Since Stafford County passed the $50 million Transportation Bond Referendum in 2019, significant progress has been made on selected projects, according to a county news release.
Voters authorized Stafford to borrow up to $50 million to leverage funding from state and local sources for transportation projects around the county. The county government also has embarked upon creating its first transportation master plan.
The road bond referendum efforts include eight major road projects and 35 road widening and safety improvement projects within Stafford County.
So far, the shoulders of 26 miles of road have been widened. This type of project gives drivers more room to pull over if necessary .
Portions of Andrew Chapel Road, Cropp Road, Hartwood Road, Kellogg Mill Road, Mountain View Road, Ramoth Church Road, Spotted Tavern Road and Winding Creek Road have been widened.
In 2024 widening is scheduled for Brent Point Road, and completion of Decatur Road in the Fall.
Work on Stefaniga Road is scheduled for 2025.
