Prince William County officials and the architect for the new Gainesville Library that is slated to be built on the corner of US 15 and Lightner Road want to hear from the community. They have announced a community “listening” meeting on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Evergreen Fire Station. Design of the new facility will begin soon. Residents are invited to “bring your questions, concerns and ideas. We want this library to reflect the needs of the local community, so this meeting is an important first step,” a library statement said.
The new library will be built on the corner of US 15 and Lightner Road on a site proffered by the developer of Dominion Valley. The 20,000 sq. ft. full service library was approved by the voters in 2006 as part of a bond referendum. Design will take 12-15 months, and then construction will take another 12-18 months, according to library officials. The Evergreen Fire Station is located on US 15 at 3510 James Madison Highway.
