OmniRide bus operators will honk their horns on Thursday, April 16, at 3 p.m. in solidarity with partner transit agencies to honor the thousands of heroic transportation workers nationwide who continue to serve the public during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a tribute to those on the front lines of this public health crisis, all trains, buses and ferries that are running in service throughout the nation are being asked to participate in this coordinated day of action by simultaneously giving two one-second horn blasts at 3 p.m.
The American Public Transportation Association is coordinating this effort to spotlight heroic transportation workers who continue to provide critical service for healthcare workers, first responders, childcare workers, grocery store employees and others who are performing critically essential work during the pandemic.
“Across the United States and locally, transit workers are doing amazing jobs under extremely challenging conditions, and this is one way to show them that OmniRide recognizes their value as first providers,” said Executive Director Bob Schneider.
Members of the public who happen to be near an OmniRide bus at 3 p.m. Thursday are encouraged to honk their horns in recognition of the critical role that transit workers are playing during this crisis!
