Social media: Pitfalls and solutions from PW school division point of view

Prince William County Schools’ current edition of Inside Education looks at how social media pervades our culture, creating issues and problems for oung people, especially middle school students. Guests share experiences and offer tips for positive use of social media and help for parents trying to navigate this online world.

“Inside Education” is currently airing on PWCS-TV (Comcast channel 18 and Verizon FiOS channel 36).

The half-hour program, hosted by Director of Communications Phil Kavits, offers an in-depth look at educational initiatives and keeps the community updated on important School Division matters.

A seventh grader and his mother Kristi Beall, library media specialist at Bull Run Middle School, join Kavits to share their experiences with social media and later in the program, Lisa Xantus, director of School Counseling at Graham Park Middle School, and Dr. Tori Stone, professional school counselor at Bull Run Middle, offer their insights and provide suggestions for dealing with the issues social media use brings. Throughout the program, hear from students and parents about how social media effects their lives.

“Inside Education” is produced by the Office of Media Production Services, in conjunction with the PWCS Office of Communications Services.
