Sixty displaced in apartment fire; five needed observation or medical treatment.

On Monday, Feb. 18 at 10:57 p.m. Prince William County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a reported fire in a third floor apartment located in 11211 Lady Jane Loop in Manassas. Sixty residents were displaced. Five people needed observation or medical treatment. Preliminary damage estimate is $500,000.

Apartments 11211 and 11221 Lady Jane Loop were affected by the fire. The three-story apartment buildings have 12 units each or 24 units total between the two buildings.

Of the 24 units, 20 were leased at the time of the fire displacing approximately 60 residents. Bozzuto Property Management and Red Cross assisted with relocation of displaced residents to a local hotel.

A representative of the county Building Official’s Office has declared both buildings unsafe and posted them as such.

One resident was transported to a local medical facility. Two firefighters were transported to a local hospital for observation following rehab and two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

Fire Marshals are in the preliminary stage of investigation in which the fire appears to have originated on the third floor and spread to the attic. Investigation into the cause of fire is ongoing by fire investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office assisted by safety personnel.

Prince William County Police assisted with traffic and crowd control.
