Seven displaced by fire at Boatswain Circle home in Woodbridge

On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at approximately 12:30 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a vehicle fire at a single-family home located in the 16400 block of Boatswain Circle in Woodbridge. 

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a fully involved vehicle in the driveway with fire extending into the garage and minor smoke damage to the master bedroom located above the garage.  Fire and rescue crews proceeded to suppress and extinguish the fire while checking for further extension; no further extension was found. 

No injuries reported. 

The fire was discovered by the driver who observed smoke emitting from under the vehicle upon exiting the car. In an attempt to extinguish the fire, the driver entered the home to retrieve a fire extinguisher; upon his return, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damages are estimated at $10,000.

The occupants, seven adults, have been displaced by the fire.
