Second suspect in Nov. 1 murder turns himself in

UPDATE

Murder Investigation *ARREST – On November 22nd, Byron KING turned himself into police without incident at the Gar-Field Station in Woodbridge. This individual was the remaining suspect wanted in connection to the murder of Gilbert KINARD which occurred in the 15200 block of Brazil Cir in Woodbridge on Nov. 1, 2015. The other suspect, Lamar LEWIS, was previously located and arrested on Nov. 17, 2015 in Georgia by members of the Atlanta U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force.

Murder Investigation *ARREST [Previously Released] – On November 17th, after an extensive search, Lamar LEWIS was located and arrested at an apartment located in the 3800 block of Mulkey Cir in Marietta, Georgia by members of the Atlanta U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force. This suspect was one of two men involved in the murder of Gilbert KINARD which occurred in the 15200 block of Brazil Cir in Woodbridge on November 1st. The accused remains in custody in Georgia pending extradition back to Virginia. The other suspect, identified as Bryon KING, is still actively being sought by law enforcement.

Murder Investigation *SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED [Previously Released] – On November 2nd, detectives from the Homicide Unit identified two suspects involved in the murder of Gilbert KINARD who was located deceased in the 15200 block of Brazil Cir in Woodbridge on November 1st. The investigation revealed that the victim and the two suspects were involved in a physical altercation which occurred earlier that morning in the area of Bronco Way and Benita Fitzgerald Dr around 2:00AM. During the encounter, the victim sustained a fatal knife wound to his upper body. After the altercation, the victim ran from the initial scene and succumbed to his injuries on the front steps of an unrelated townhome on Brazil Cir. All parties involved in this incident were known to one another. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of both men. Attempts to locate these suspects have been unsuccessful. Both suspects have ties locally and in the New York City area.

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On November 1st at 7:48AM, officers responded to the 15200 block of Brazil Cir in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a death. The caller reported to police that he was walking his dog when he observed an unknown man lying on the front steps of a townhouse in the area above. Officers arrived at that residence and found the man suffering from a stab wound to his body and requested rescue assistance. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Homicide Unit were able to identify the victim as a 48 year old man of no fixed address. There is currently no connection to the victim and the residence where he was located. At this point in the investigation, detectives do not believe this was a random incident. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues. This is Prince William County’s 7th homicide of 2015*.
