Crash - Fatality
On October 26th at 7:08PM, police responded to the 14300 block of Spriggs Rd in Woodbridge (22193) for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2012 Mazda 3 was traveling southbound on Spriggs Rd near Lindendale Rd and struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross over Spriggs Rd at the same time. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed the pedestrian was attempting to catch his dog that had run away. The dog was also struck and killed in the opposite lanes on Spriggs Rd by an unrelated vehicle. The pedestrian was in an unlit area of Spriggs Rd at the time of the collision. Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this crash. Police said the driver was not at fault in the crash and was not charged.
Identified: The pedestrian was identified as Erwin Jose VALDEZ PEREZ, 56, of Woodbridge.
The driver of the 2010 Mazda 3 was identified as a 19 year old woman of Woodbridge
