Saving Prince William’s Littles car seat safety group set up here, patterned after Loudoun group

A non profit group called Saving Loudoun’s Littles which first launched in the Fall of 2015, has now expanded to Prince William County with the September founding of Saving Prince William’s Littles, according to a news release.

The group remains committed to raising awareness of car seat safety and is looking to train and certify additional Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) to provide community car seat check events within Prince William County.

According to the news release, while all Fire Departments in Prince William County are required to have CPSTs on staff, the demand for checks can exceed the capacity of those technicians–given the large number of children that reside in the county.

The car seat check events hosted by Saving Prince William’s Littles will have multiple CPSTs on site, enabling them to check a large number of vehicles and seats in a single day. Saving Prince William’s Littles will post the schedule of car seat check events along with educational information via its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/savingprincewiliamsllittles/  .

Following the successful model of Saving Loudoun’s Littles, the news release states that the group is currently “seeking sponsors to help offset the cost of training for interested individuals.”

Virginia Tire & Auto locations in Gainesville and Bristow were reported to be “immediate sponsors’ of the organization and have been extremely valuable in getting Saving Prince William’s Littles off to a good start.  Virginia Tire & Auto has been a cornerstone sponsor of Saving Loudoun’s Littles. the news release stated.

Julie Holmes, president of Virginia Tire & Auto, was quoted in the news release as saying, “Virginia Tire & Auto is very pleased to be involved in the car seat safety check movement. It is a meaningful way to give back to our local community while at the same time providing a much needed service.“
