Saving on electricity while celebrating the holidays

Here are a few tips from the Alliance to Save Energy for the brightest (and least costly!) holiday yet:

Save money on your electric bill by using LED holiday lights, which use 90% less electricity than traditional holiday lights.

Fiber optic trees are great alternatives, and they’re the ultimate in energy efficiency. In most cases, they use a single bulb to light the entire decoration!

Wait until dark to turn on your holiday lights, and turn them off before you go to bed. If you have trouble remembering try using a timer, which will do the work for you! 

If you’re more of a traditionalist, set up luminaries along your walkway and light candles throughout your home to achieve a beautiful holiday glow, without burning a hole in your wallet.
