Running vehicle stolen with baby inside

**ARRESTS**

Grand Larceny Auto | Abduction | Felony Eluding – On September 8 at 11:00PM, officers responded to the 18000 block of Fraley Blvd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a stolen vehicle in progress.

The victim, a 51-year-old man of Arlington, reported to police that he parked his vehicle unlocked and running next to his wife who was driving a separate vehicle while he went inside of a business. While he was inside, an unknown man got into the vehicle and drove away with the victim’s 1-year-old son still inside the vehicle.

Responding officers located the vehicle traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy in the area of Cardinal Dr. When officers activated their lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed onto Blackburn Rd.

Officers pursued the vehicle to Winslow Ct where the driver bailed from the vehicle causing it to strike a parked car. The driver then fled on foot but was detained a short time later by a police K-9.

The 1-year-old child was not injured but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. The accused received several lacerations as a result of the apprehension and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with grand larceny, abduction, child endangerment, felony eluding, hit & run, resisting arrest, and driving on a revoked license
