The Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) announced Dec. 9 that Senator Marco Rubio is the tenth Republican candidate to submit signatures for “pre-check” review by the RPV and for submission to the State Board of Elections.
RPV reviewed the signatures on the petitions submitted and the Rubio Campaign passed the pre-check process with significantly more signatures than required to meet the 5,000 statewide and 200 per Congressional District requirements of Virginia law.
“Senator Rubio’s grassroots team and volunteers have done an excellent job in attaining the necessary signatures to get on the Virginia ballot; Senator Rubio should be very pleased with their effort,” said RPV Chairman John Whitbeck. “The GOP candidates understand how important Virginia is and are building strong networks in our critical Commonwealth.”
“We are honored to present the work of hundreds of volunteers from across the Commonwealth to place Marco Rubio on the ballot for the March 1 Primary. These volunteers responded to Marco’s positive message for a strong and prosperous America whose best years are ahead,” said Delegate Tim Hugo. “The fact that we did not pay for a single signature speaks volumes about the grassroots support for Marco and his vision for a New American Century.”
Thus far a total of ten candidates have passed the RPV Pre-Check: Donald Trump, Governor John Kasich, former Governor Jeb Bush, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Chris Christie, Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina and now Senator Marco Rubio. Virginia will hold a primary on Super Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
