Work to repair and resurface park roads and parking areas will continue at Manassas National Battlefield Park during the week of September 29. The work will be undertaken during non rush-hours, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
During the week of September 29 – October 3, construction work will occur at Stuart’s Hill, affecting the entrance road and parking area of the park headquarters facility. The affected road and parking area will be closed to traffic during construction activities on October 2 - 3. The parking areas at Battery Heights, Unfinished Railroad, and Sudley, which were closed earlier this month for construction, will be opened to visitor use beginning Monday, September 29.
The NPS will continue to inform the public and the media of any delays or adjustments to this work schedule. Changing locations of work zones and project updates will be provided in a weekly traffic advisory to the news media. Park visitors are encouraged to inquire at the Henry Hill Visitor Center concerning any available alternatives to accessing affected areas of the park.
Motorists will be notified of construction activity through the use of construction signs and variable message boards. As with all road construction projects, inclement weather may require adjustments to the schedules, including the possibility of postponement. Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner.
The project, by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Eastern Federal Lands Highways Division (EFLHD), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), is anticipated to be completed by November 2014.
