Road work continues at Manassas National Battlefield Park

Work to repair and resurface park roads and parking areas will continue at Manassas National Battlefield Park during the week of September 15.  The work will be undertaken during non rush-hours, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

During the week of September 15 - 19, construction work will continue at the Battery Heights, Unfinished Railroad, and Sudley parking areas.

All affected parking areas will be closed to traffic during the weekend of September 13-14 in preparation for the planned work, and these sites will remain closed during construction activities throughout the week.

In addition, the Stuart’s Hill parking area will be closed on Saturday, September 20, for construction.  Changing locations of work zones and project updates will be provided in a weekly traffic advisory to the news media.

The NPS will continue to inform the public and the media of any delays or adjustments to this work schedule.

Park visitors are encouraged to inquire at the Henry Hill Visitor Center concerning any available alternatives to accessing affected areas of the park.  Motorists will be notified of construction activity through the use of construction signs and variable message boards.

As with all road construction projects, weather may require adjustments to the schedules, including the possibility of postponement.  Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner.  The NPS regrets any inconvenience and appreciates all motorists’ understanding and patience.

The project, which is being undertaken by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Eastern Federal Lands Highways Division (EFLHD), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), is anticipated to be completed by November.

For visitor information, contact the Visitor Center at 703-361-1339.
