Five PWCS FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams traveled Dec. 4-5 to the FLL State Tournament at James Madison University in Harrisonburg and won an invitation to the State Tournament by being the top in three different judging categories and having success on the field during the robot game.
Congratulations to the teams from:
Buckland Mills Elementary
Henderson Elementary
Marshall Elementary (2 teams)
Pennington Traditional
The FLL robots are made of LEGOs but are not an actual robot until the students program them to complete multiple tasks. The FLL robots do not use a remote control as many other robotics platforms do. The FLL robots are strictly driven by a computer program that these fourth and fifth graders have written themselves.
Robotics activities teach students teamwork, problem solving, and math and engineering concepts.
