PWC Special Victims Unit detectives investigate alleged rape in Manassas

Rape | Domestic Assault and Battery – On Sunday, Jan. 9 at 12:10PM, Prince William County police officers responded to investigate a domestic that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 7400 block of Boundary Ave. in Manassas (20111) between 9 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 8.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated, according to a report from Master Police Officer Renee Carr, police department representative. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim on more than one occasion. Eventually the parties separated in the home. The following day, the victim contacted the police, prompting the investigation. The victim reported minor injuries.

During the course of the police investigation, the victim reported that the accused also sexually assaulted her on Jan. 4, MPO Carr said. Detectives with the Special Victims Unit determined that while inside the residence, the accused grabbed the victim and held her down as he raped her. Following the investigations, the accused, identified as Juan Carlos MIRA, was arrested.
