PWC Police investigate two fatalities

Currently, the Prince William County Police Crash Investigation Unit is working two fatal crashes on the western end of the county.

At 5:49 a.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012, police responded to the area of Lee Hwy and Old Carolina Rd in Gainesville (20155) for a crash involving a pedestrian. A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian, an adult male, was crossing Lee Hwy in the area above when he was struck by a vehicle which was traveling on Lee Hwy. The pedestrian later died as a result of his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

At 6:37 a.m.,on Sunday, July 29, 2012 police responded to the area of Bristow Rd and Independent Hill Dr in Brenstville (20112) for a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the motorcycle, an adult male, was traveling on Bristow Rd in the area above when he lost control, ran off of the roadway and struck a tree. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both investigations are ongoing and no further information is available at this time. The names of both victims’ will be released upon notification of their next of kin, according to Officer Jonathan L. Perok, public information officer.
