Fatal Crash Investigation – On August 10 at 1:30AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Russell Rd in Triangle (22172) to investigate a pedestrian struck.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2013 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy struck the victim who was in the middle of the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later, a damaged 2007 Hyosung GT650 motorcycle was located in a nearby wood line. Further investigation revealed that the victim was operating the 2007 Hyosung GT650 while traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy in the area above when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck the guard rail.
The victim became separated from the motorcycle then was struck by the driver of the Honda Accord. Due to the initial report, the victim was initially believed to be a pedestrian.
It is unknown at this time if speed and alcohol are factors or if the victim was wearing a helmet. The investigation continues.

The driver of the 2007 Hyosung GT650 was identified as Dustin Eugene SCHEXNAYDER, 31, of King George, Va.
The driver of the 2013 Honda Accord was identified as a 47 year old man of Fredericksburg.
According to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation, Route 1 in Stafford County was expected to remain closed between Russell Road and Corporate Drive through the morning rush hour period for law enforcement activity.
Motorists were encouraged to use Interstate 95 as an alternate route. Russell Road remained open to all traffic traveling to Quantico Marine Corps Base. Message boards were posted at Va. Rt. 610 in Stafford and Joplin Road in Prince William County to alert motorists.
Detour routes were in place at the scene. Route 1 northbound traffic was detoured to Telegraph Road and Russell Road, where motorists could access a ramp to northbound US 1.
Southbound motorists Were detoured to Russell Road, where they could access Interstate 95 southbound or Telegraph Road to proceed south on US 1.
Traffic was back to normal around 8:45 a.m. this morning, according to a VDOT report.
