PWC Police investigate, break-ins, assaults and drug-related crimes

**INCIDENTS**

Unlawful Wounding – On September 17 at 3:41PM, officers responded to the homeless camp located in the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation on September 13 which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed the victim and shoved her to the ground causing an injury to her arm. The parties eventually separated and the victim later responded to a local hospital for treatment. Following the investigation, officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused. The investigation continues.

Strong Armed Robbery – On September 18 at 7:50PM, an officer was on routine patrol in the 10200 block of Irongate Way in Manassas (20109) when he was flagged down by a citizen concerning a robbery which had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 24-year-old man of Manassas, was walking in the above area when he was approached by two unknown men. During the encounter, the victim fell to the ground and the suspects began assaulting him. The suspects then took the victim’s back pack before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. Officers checked the area but did not locate the suspects. The investigation continues.

Residential Burglary – On September 17 at 8:06PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16600 block of Reservoir Lp in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:30AM and 1:30PM. Entry was made into the residence through a rear door which was found unsecured. A security panel was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 16 at 8:06PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 12800 block of Tumbling Brook Ln in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary in progress. A resident of the apartment reported to police that upon returning home, the front door was found damaged. When the resident entered the apartment, an unknown person was heard leaving out of a rear door. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect who was not located. No property was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 16 at 10:24PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 1200 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. A resident of the apartment reported to police that the burglary occurred between 10:00AM and 10:21PM. Entry was made into the apartment through the front door which was found damaged. A television, clothing items, shoes, a gaming console, and jewelry were reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On September 18 at 8:16AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 1300 block of East Longview Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted burglary. A resident of the apartment reported to police that sometime between 1:00PM on September 17 and 6:00AM on September 18, entry was attempted into the apartment through a window which was found shattered. No entry was made into the apartment and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Armed Robbery – On September 16 at 3:10PM, officers responded to investigate a robbery which occurred in the area of Allen Dent Rd and Reservoir Loop in Dumfries (22026) earlier that afternoon. The victim, a 14-year-old male juvenile of Dumfries, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached by two unknown male juveniles. During the encounter, one of the suspects brandished a handgun while the other suspect punched the victim in the face.  The suspects then took the victim’s shoes and cell phone before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. During the investigation, detectives from the Robbery Unit and Gang Unit identified both of the suspects as a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old male juveniles both of Dumfries. The 17-year-old male juvenile was eventually located at his residence later that evening. Detectives have obtained warrants for the arrest of the 16-year-old male juvenile. The investigation continues.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On September 16 at 9:00PM, officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of the Jefferson Davis Hwy and Powells Creek Blvd in Woodbridge (22191) for a traffic violation. Upon making contact, the driver, later identified as Antonio Jose COTTO, reported that he was driving a passenger in the vehicle to the hospital because she was involved in a domestic altercation with a family member, later identified as a 14-year-old male juvenile. During the domestic encounter, the 14-year-old male juvenile allegedly punched the passenger in the face breaking her nose. When an officer attempted to detain the 14-year-old male juvenile who was sitting in a back seat, COTTO exited the vehicle and attempted to close the car door as an officer was opening it. As officers were detaining COTTO, the 14-year-old male juvenile also exited the vehicle and attempted to assault an officer in an effort to stop the officers from detaining COTTO. Both of the accused were eventually detained. Minor injuries were reported by the 14-year-old male juvenile who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Narcotics Investigation – On March 16, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit arrested the below individuals following a drug transaction which occurred in the 14500 block of Gideon Dr in Woodbridge (22193). Following the investigation, all of the accused were arrested without incident. These arrests were previously held for investigative purposes.

Narcotics Investigation – On February 24, the accused was arrested by detectives from the Prince William County-Manassas City-Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force   as part of Operation “Save a Life” which was an aggressive campaign that sought to combat heroin use and distribution in our area. This arrest was previously held for investigative purposes.
