Possession of a Firearm on School Property – On April 24th at 9:30AM, police responded to Ellis Elementary located at 10400 Kim Graham Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a student in possession of handgun on school property.
The investigation revealed that a 9 year old male juvenile, later identified as the accused, carried a fully disassembled handgun, contained in a carrying case, onto school property.
While on school property, the juvenile showed the hand gun to several other students. The incident was reported to a teacher, by another student, after that student saw the handgun. The teacher subsequently reported the incident to the school’s administration, and the administration took possession of the handgun and contacted police. The handgun was disassembled and could not be fired.
Officers responded to the school and secured the handgun without incident. Following the investigation, the juvenile was arrested and subsequently released to a family member. A known acquaintance was also arrested in relation to the case for not properly securing the handgun.
