Incidents and arrests released on Wednesday, March 2, 2016
**INCIDENTS**
Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 29 at 1:41PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Wayside Dr in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a two vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2012 Toyota RAV4 was traveling eastbound from the Princeton Woods Shopping Center towards Wayside Dr when, for unknown reasons, the driver drove over the median and across the eastbound lanes striking two pedestrian signals.
The RAV4 then traveled north in the southbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Hwy where it collided with a 2001 Mack tractor trailer which was traveling in the southbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Hwy.
This collision caused the tractor trailer to overturn across the northbound lanes. A third vehicle in the left turning lane of northbound Jefferson Davis Hwy received minor damage when it was struck by debris from the tractor trailer.
The driver of the Toyota RAV4 was transported to a local hospital where she died a short time later. The other drivers were not injured.
Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. The investigation continues.

The driver of the 2012 Toyota RAV4 was identified as Umme Habiba BEGUM, 58, of Stafford
The driver of the 2001 Mack Tractor was identified as a 61 year old man of Remington
Armed Bank Robbery – On March 1 at 11:30AM, officers responded to the BB&T Bank located at 12435 Dillingham Sq in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. Employees reported to police that an unknown man entered the bank armed with a knife and demanding money. During the encounter, the suspect jumped over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 reported to search for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues.

Black male, between 18 & 28 years of age, 5’11”, 165lbs with a medium build and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a brown wig with red strands, black and grey jacket, tan and yellow shirt, dark blue jeans, and light grey shoes
Strong Armed Robbery – On February 27 at 12:05PM, officers responded to the 10600 block of Automotive Dr in Manassas (20110) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 19 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and two acquaintances, identified as Helanna SHAW and Brianna O’TOOLE, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, both of the accused suspects struck the victim in the face and chest. When a witness, a 20 year old man of Manassas, attempted to separate the parties, he was assaulted by SHAW. At one point, O’TOOLE grabbed the victim’s cell phone then fled the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained for the accused.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On February 29 at 9:48PM, officers responded to the area of Rollins Ford Rd and Estate Manor Dr in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a shots fired call. The victim, a 16 year old male juvenile of Bristow, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown driver of a 4-doorHonda sedan. As the victim was walking away, he heard several gunshots. The driver then fled the area and police were contacted. No injuries were reported. The victim was not able to provide any suspect information. The investigation continues.
Commercial Burglary – On February 25 at 2:50PM, officers responded to the Santorini Grill located at 14674 Lee Hwy in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a burglary. The business owner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 2:00PM on February 24 and 1:25PM on February 25. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the business. Two speakers were reported missing.
Attempted Residential Burglary – On February 29 at 7:00PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13800 block of Meadowbrook Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 7:10AM and 2:45PM, entry was attempted into the home through a window which was found open. No entry was made and no property was reported missing.
**ARRESTS**
Residential Burglary – On February 27 at 4:01PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15600 block of John Diskin Cir in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 36 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, an acquaintance. The victim reported that the accused had since left the residence in her vehicle without her permission. A short time later, an officer located the vehicle being driven in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Featherstone Rd. When the officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle accelerated and fled the area but was later found unoccupied. When officers returned to the residence, the front door was found damaged and the accused was located inside. The accused was quickly detained without further incident. Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the accused was intoxicated. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with burglary, eluding police, driving under the influence, and unreasonable refusal
