ARRESTS

Reckless Endangerment of a Child – On September 11th at 1:59PM, police responded to the 14900 block of Abilene Way in Woodbridge (22193) for a joint investigation with Child Protective Services based on information that a large number of children were being watched at a residence with limited supervision. Detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit and Child Protective Services discovered 21 children, from 3 months to 4 years old, inside the residence.

Seven of the children inside the residence that were less than a year old were found to be strapped into car seats throughout the residence, including a bathroom and closet. All of the children were uninjured, however, most were not adequately supervised. A search warrant was executed at the residence. The children were released to their respective parents or guardians.

According to Officer Jonathan Perok, Prince William County Police’s public information officer, the accused, A. QAYYUM, was running an unlicensed daycare out of the residence. There were only two adults caring for the children. The second accused person, R. QAYYUM, is a relative of A. QAYYUM and was assisting with the children. Both accused were charged with 7 offenses each. The investigation continues. Arrested: Anila QAYYUM, 29, of 14950 Abilene Way in Woodbridge. Charged with 7 counts of reckless endangerment of a child, Court date unavailable, held on a $8,000 secured bond. Rabia QAYYUM, 23, of 14950 Abilene Way in Woodbridge. Charged with 7 counts of reckless endangerment of a child. Court date unavailable, held on a $8,000 unsecured bond.

Malicious Wounding – On September 11th at 12:03PM, police responded to the Miller Mart located at 7601 Somerset Crossing Dr in Gainesville (20155) for an assault. The victim, a 69-year-old man of Gainesville, reported to police that he was assaulted by the accused while both were pumping gas at the Miller Mart. The victim informed the accused that he was about to drive away with the gas pump still attached to the vehicle. The accused became agitated with the victim and struck him in the face several times. The victim sustained minor injuries. The accused left the area but was located by officers in the area of Linton Hall Rd and Wellington Rd where he was arrested without further incident. Arrested: Austin Lee KRETSCH, 19, of 13576 Filly Ct in Gainesville. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date set for October 22, 2012, held WITHOUT bond.

Burglary While Armed | Malicious Wounding – On September 11th at 8:58PM, police responded to the 3700 block of Del Mar Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a stabbing. The victim, a 69-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was in his residence when two men forced their way inside. During the encounter, one of the men stabbed him with a knife. Following the stabbing, both men fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was flown to an area hospital with severe, life threatening injuries. One of the men was determined to be a known to the victim from a past incident. Investigation continues. Vehicle Lookout: 1991, white, Buick Regal 4 door sedan with VA tag 382506

Strong Armed Robbery – On September 9th at 11:02PM, police responded to the 15200 block of Grist Mill Tr in Woodbridge (22191) for a robbery. The victims, a 19-year-old man and 20-year-old man – both of Burke, reported to police that they made arrangements to meet an unknown man in the area above to sell a pair of shoes. Once there, the victims were approached by 2 unknown men. The men assaulted both victims and took the shoes, valued around $225, before fleeing the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. Lookout: 2 Asian males, both between 19 & 20 years of age – 1st male was 5’10” / 150lbs, medium build with short black hair. Last seen wearing an orange t-shirt, blue jeans and green & orange shoes. 2nd male was 5’9” / 130lbs, medium build with short black hair. Last seen wearing a black shirt, black jeans and black & green shoes.
