Attempted Murder – On January 2nd, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau investigated an attempted murder which was reported to have occurred in the 19000 block of Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle (22172) around 2:00PM. The investigation revealed that the accused had arranged to kill herself and the victim, her 3 year old baby girl, in a house fire.
The accused gave her daughter cough medicine to make the child fall asleep then proceeded to a bathroom within the residence where she lit a fire with the intent to kill them both. The fire became too intense and the accused extinguished the fire. The accused then drove the victim to Fairfax where she left the child with another family member.
After leaving her child, the accused was driving in Fairfax County when she struck a tree. The accused was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment. The family member also transported the victim to an area hospital to be evaluated for minor burns as a result of the incident.
The victim has since been treated and released from the hospital. The accused has been charged and remains in the hospital for further treatment and evaluation. This investigation was jointly conducted between Prince William County Police, Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office and Fairfax County Police.
