Carjacking (Previously Released) – On December 26th at 9:17PM, police responded to the 7900 block of Community Dr in Manassas (20109) for a carjacking. The victims, a 41 year old woman and a 39 year old man – both of Manassas, reported to police that they had just parked their vehicle in front of their residence in the above area when 3 unknown males suddenly approached the vehicle. At that point, two of the males displayed handguns and ordered the victims from their vehicle. Two of the males then got into the vehicle and fled the area while the remaining suspect fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

Around 10:30PM, officers located the vehicle, which was occupied by 7 individuals, in the drive-thru of the McDonalds located at Portsmouth Rd. As officers approached the vehicle, 4 of the individuals, including the driver, fled on foot. The vehicle was left in the drive position and continued forward, striking a concrete pillar before stopping. An additional 3 suspects were unable to exit the backseat of the vehicle and were detained by police. Those individuals were later determined to not have been involved in the carjacking. A police K-9 was utilized in a search for the remaining suspects. The K-9 located 1 of suspects nearby, a 17 year old male of Manassas, where he was detained without further incident.

Upon further investigation, detectives from the Robbery Unit were able to identify and locate the 3 remaining suspects at an address on Albemarle Dr where they were detained without further incident. Among the 3 suspects detained on Albemarle Dr, 2 were determined to have been involved in the initial carjacking, a 12 year old male of Manassas and a 14 year old male of Sterling. The investigation further revealed that the 2 of the males involved in the carjacking had met up with the other individuals at Manassas Mall following the carjacking. There, a 13 year old female, drove the stolen vehicle to the McDonalds where they encountered police. The handguns used in the carjacking were later determined to have been BB guns which the suspects stole prior to the incident. The 3rd suspect involved in the carjacking was not located.
