Narcotics Investigation
On Aug. 31, police concluded an investigation into the selling of crack cocaine with the execution of a search warrant at 9003-B Sandalwood Dr. in Manassas. As a result of the search .5 oz of crack cocaine, two handguns, a TV and an disclosed amount of U.S. currency were seized. The following arrests were also made without incident. Arrested: Derek Lorenzo Thomas, 28, of 9003-B Sandalwood Dr. in Manassas. Charged with distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic [crack cocaine]. Court date unavailable, held without bond. Latasha Michelle Rorie, 35, of 9003-B Sandalwood Dr. in Manassas. Charged with possession of a schedule I or II narcotic [crack cocaine]. Court date unavailable, released on personal recognizance.
Falsely Summoning the Police
On Aug. 29 at 8:16 p.m., police responded to the area of the Dale City Forest Apartments at 14321 Wrangler Lane in Dale City for a 911 hang up call from a cell phone. The caller would hang up on answer from dispatch. At one point, the caller used inappropriate language while communicating with call takers at dispatch. Police were finally able to locate caller in the 4300 block of Wabash Pl. The caller, at first, provided police with a fictitious name before police were able to identify the caller as the accused. The accused at no time had an emergency and took several officers from answering other calls for the 2 hours it took to locate the accused. Arrested: Jason Keshon Akridge, 21, of 14005 Golden Ct. in Woodbridge. Charged with falsely summoning the police, providing a false name to law enforcement and the use of obscene language over the telephone. Court date set for Oct. 3, 2011, held on a $3,000 secured bond.
CRIME SOLVERS CASES
Destruction of Property / Grand Larceny
On Aug. 28 at 8:39 a.m., police responded to Koon’s of Manassas at 7105 Sudley Road in Manassas for a destruction of property call. Management reported to police that between 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 28, an unknown person(s) smashed the passenger side window of seven vehicles parked in a back lot. All seven vehicles had their tires and rims stolen, totaling 27 rims and 27 tires. One tire and rim was located in the lot. Damage to the vehicles totaled around $3,500. The stolen tires and rims valued over $30,000.
Vandalism to School
On Sept. 1 at 8:30 a.m. police responded to McAuliffe Elementary School at 13540 Princedale Dr. in Woodbridge for a destruction of property. Staff reported to police that between 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 1, an unknown person(s) had removed a iron cover from a water shut-off value and used it to strike an exterior door causing about $300 in damage.
