Malicious Wounding
On Sept. 18 at 3:24 a.m., police responded to the 8000 block of Ashland Dr. in Manassas for an assault. The male victim, 18 of Manassas Park, reported to police that he and a female friend were walking in the area above when they were approached by two unknown men. One of the men struck him in the head with a baseball bat before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was transported to an area hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. The friend accompanying the victim was not injured. Lookout: Two white males, both reported to be in their early 20s. First male was 5’10” 190 lbs., medium build, brown eyes. Last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans – holding the baseball bat. Second male was 5’05” 170 lbs., heavy build. Last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a red baseball style hat.
Armed Robbery
On Sept. 19 at 9:25 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Indiana Ave. in Woodbridge for a robbery. The male victim, 35 of Woodbridge, reported to police he was on a delivery in the area above when he was approached by an unknown man who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The unknown man took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the victim before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported. Lookout: Black male, between 20 and 25, 5’09” 160 lbs., thin build, black hair. Last seen wearing a red sweater, black pants and a black hat.
Attempted Strong Armed Robbery
On Sept. 19 at 10:02 p.m., police responded to the area of Wildlife Way and Indiana Avenue in Woodbridge for an attempted robbery. The male victim, 26 of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking in the area above when he was approached by three unknown men who demanded money. The victim attempted to run from the men but was grabbed by one of them and assaulted. The men fled the area. No items or money were reported missing. The victim sustained minor injuries. The victim was unable to provide police with a description of the men other than all of them were in their late teens or early 20s.
ARRESTS
Malicious Wounding
On Sept. 17 at 1:37 a.m., police responded to the Value Inn at 14141 Daves Store Lane in Gainesville for a fight. The male victim, 28 of Spotsylvania, reported to police he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim in the head with a glass mug, which caused a severe laceration to the back of the victim’s head. The victim and accused were both transported to an area hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. The accused suffered lacerations to his hand from the glass mug breaking. Arrested: Benjamin Richard Smith, 36, of 12604 Tower Hill Road in Midland. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date set for Nov. 4, 2011, held on a $5,000 secured bond.
OTHER INCIDENT REPORTS
Burglary
On Sept. 19 at 5:45 p.m., police responded to the 6000 block of Omega Lane in Manassas for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police the burglary occurred between 7:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear sliding glass door that had been broken out. A gaming console, valued around $100, in addition to an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency were reported missing.
Burglary
On Sept. 17 at 5:31 p.m., police responded to the 6100 block of Occoquan Forest Dr. in Manassas for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police the burglary occurred between noon Sept. 13 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17. Entry appeared to have been made into an attached garage through an unlocked side door. The victim’s vehicle, parked inside the garage, was rummaged through. No items were reported missing.
